In Sexy by Nature, female health expert Stefani Ruper outlines five easy-to-follow steps that heal you and make it impossible not to love the skin you’re in. This book is a must-have for any woman who wants to be healthy, sexy, and free.

Women’s health is more complicated than men’s health. How often is this important fact given adequate attention in the health and fitness world? Almost never. To the joy and empowerment of women everywhere, Stefani Ruper’s Sexy by Nature finally delivers what they’ve needed all along to achieve their health and weight-loss goals.
Modern culture insists that the only way around female health problems like acne, PMS, and stubborn excess weight is to wage war against them with gym memberships, calorie counting, and restrictive diets. But it doesn’t have to be hard, frustrating, or an uphill battle. It can be the easiest, most fun, and most exciting journey of your life. How? By letting nature do the work for you. As a product of nature, the female body has specific needs. When those needs are not met, health problems ensue. When they are met, the body heals, energizes, and becomes sexy on its own. Sexy by Nature provides the tools and inspiration you need to meet those needs, to overcome health challenges, and to become the radiant, confident woman you were born to be.

Finally, Paleo adapted for WOMEN
About a year ago, I stumbled onto Stefani's blog while attempting to solve a hormonal issue I was having from maintaining a strict Paleo diet. When I found out she was writing a women-specific book, I was excited to read it.

For a science-centered book, _Sexy by Nature_ is very easy to read, especially compared to other ancestral health science books like _Perfect Health Diet_. The language is plain, and there are a few diagrams when appropriate to better demonstrate concepts. I read large portions in single sittings, whereas that's usually difficult for me when the material is technical.

The book is divided into five sections, which do seem a bit disjointed (the only negative thing I can say!). The first section was a set of "Old Rules" and a new set of "Nature Rules" to replace them with. This section wasn't very useful to me, but that's largely because I've been following an ancestral health approach for 3 years now, and it was more...
This book is a big old fiesty, flirty, fiery hug of self love <3
Stefani is a wealth of knowledge about women’s health, and we can’t get enough of her personal style when it comes to learning to love yourself and your body through positive thoughts as well as whole foods. She’s feisty, flirty, beautiful and not afraid to challenge women in the best way possible. I love that before she’d even written this book she helped me to better appreciate my body for what it can do, what it has done and what it is for – rather than what it looks like. She also gives the best hugs and generally makes you feel awesome… and that’s what this book is. Stefani has figured out how to give every person that buys this book a giant hug, tell them they’re awesome and help them love themselves – what could be better?! – Stacy

Good, but fact check please!
Ruper has a lot of great things to say, particularly to those who are new to the Paleo scene, or still need some convincing. Eating whole, natural foods that our bodies were designed to eat is absolutely the way to go for every aspect of health, and current scientific studies are bearing this out. As others have noted, the book could do with a great deal more practical rather than philosophical advise - I recommend It Starts With Food, if you want a more practical introduction to Paleo. (http://www.amazon.com/Starts-Food-Discover-Whole30-Unexpected-ebook/dp/B008C20TDG/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1398707766&sr=1-1&keywords=it+starts+with+food)

I find it very unfortunate that more nutritionists and dietitians are not being trained this way or promoting this philosophy. Although it still angers me greatly, I can understand the FDA and other large-scale organizations not promoting these guidelines - obviously they are lobbied to present the information that their lobbyists...

Did you know that simple changes in your diet could increase your fertility by 60 percent? That what you eat when you're pregnant could affect whether your child will need to wear glasses or braces? That increasing your intake of certain nutrients before you become pregnant could radically decrease your chances of suffering from morning sickness?

In Beautiful Babies, nutrition educator Kristen Michaelis reveals the truth about diet and pregnancy. Based on her research of the nutrient-rich diets of healthy and fertile populations around the world, she lays out exactly what you should and shouldn't eat when trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and while breast-feeding. In the first half of the book she explains the ways industrialized foods can prevent pregnancy, how a low-fat diet can increase your likelihood of infertility by 85 percent, what to do if breast-feeding doesn't work for you, why babies can't digest cereal, and gives step-by-step instructions on how and when to introduce your baby's first foods. In the second half of the book she equips you with more than 50 recipes for incorporating traditional fertility-boosting foods into your diet. Beautiful Babies provides you with everything you need to know about having a healthy pregnancy and nourishing your growing baby.

Orange Cheese Lover Says: This Changed My Life
I'm not a foodie. I love processed foods. Orange cheese, McDonalds, tube cookie dough... what the heck is this book on my recommendations page? Why would I even order it? I'm not a Weston Price person or any of those organizations. (15 days ago I had NEVER heard of Weston Price.) Heck, I didn't even know what coconut oil was or what the difference between corn and canola oil was two weeks ago. Why would you want beef that was raised on grass when corn-fed beef doesn't have that kind-of weird taste? And yes, chicken skin is so good, but it's really bad. Now, I eat and sleep and breathe this stuff. I mean it. Amazon somehow figured I might like this. Probably when I was buying a yogurt maker or a Montessori teaching book. I buy nothing else with Organic, Slow Food, Grass-Fed, or the like in the title. It's a little frightening how they could predict. Well, it arrived. I ordered it sort-of irresponsibly because I always feel a little guilty that I can't breast feed. I opened it sitting...
Ideal nutrition to promote fertility, a healthy pregnancy, breastfeeding, and baby's first solids
Kristen Michaelis is well-known in the blogging world for her site “Food Renegade,” which focuses on a traditional foods diet. Now she has applied her knowledge of nutrition to baby-making; “Beautiful Babies” is all about how to eat right to promote fertility, being healthy while pregnant, how a woman's diet can improve the quality of her breastmilk, and venturing into the world of solid foods once the baby is ready. Like many in the traditional foods movement, Michaelis promotes the dietary principles advocated by the Weston A. Price Foundation; unlike some names from that community who have been in the blogging spotlight of late, Michaelis is refreshingly non-judgmental towards women who do not maintain a “perfect” diet. Good nutrition is indeed important, and it is the author's goal to help women work towards it, but she keeps a very positive attitude about it all, offers suggestions to help those who are having a hard time eating certain...
This book increased my fertility!
After miscarrying my first pregnancy I was told I had a hormonal imbalance that was possibly PCOS (though I don't fit the standard profile) and it would be necessary for me to use fertility drugs to have a "strong" ovulation. After 8 months of following the recommended low-fat, calorie counting diet that many physicians adhere to, 3 rounds of fertility drugs and 2 failed IUIs, my husband and I were feeling hopeless and helpless (not to mention broke as we had spent some of our house savings for fertility treatments).

At the end of February I pre-ordered this book and took your online "Beautiful Babies" course. I started the course right away and made several immediate changes, most importantly adding in more good fats to my diet as I learned about the important role of cholesterol in hormone production. My TSH(thyroid) levels equalized after 5 months of being elevated and I felt much better. My other hormone levels began to equalize as well (all confirmed by blood test). I...

Okay at best
As a biomechanics and Injury prevention specialist, I specialize in corrective exercise and have made a successful career out of it. I am always looking for new information and books to expand my knowledge of the human body. I was looking for a bit more than what this book provided. I was originally drawn in by the amazing reviews (even before the book was released). Which is awfully suspicious. Regardless, I'd figure I'd see what all of the hype is about. As a practitioner, I am more interested in causation and correction, less in just what looks( or doesn't look) right. This book provided very little of what I was looking for and I'd recommend several other, more detailed books before this one, if you are interested in injury prevention. The book was filled with errors, that was easy for someone like myself to pick out quickly.

Pros: Solid info on 'smashing', picked up some new stuff.

Cons: Lack of detailed explanations
Errors in simple understandings of...
Decent, but not the be-all end-all
Before we start, yes, this is freaking long. I know. I originally wrote this for people at Reddit, and only made a few minor edits for Amazon.

First off, a squabble with how the book was published: I ended up paying 50 euros to purchase the book and get it shipped over here, at Amazon.com, which is a US-based website. This is odd because I live in the Netherlands, so it would've made much more sense to order at Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de, but then I would've paid 50 euros for just the book sans the shipping. This is odd and in dire need of correction.

On Amazon, all you read are rave reviews of how the book will change your life and will instantly make you the healthiest human being on the planet and all that... well, I don't believe in magic bullets, and neither should you. Don't take this as me saying the book isn't good; it is and there are definitely a lot of things I've learnt from it. However, I don't think it's the be-all-end-all of fitness books...
On Balance OK
I was initially surprised that on the day of publication +200 five star reviews hit Amazon for this book and it strikes a little more balance is required.

While I subscribe to much of what the author puts forth and on balance this is a worthwhile resource there are some real pros and cons...

Among the pros is the philosophy, comprehensiveness and generally easy to read style that is at times conversational in a positive manner.

There are some major cons. Starting with the fact that there is no index -- are you kidding me. This matters as for many I suspect this will serve more as a resource than read it once and absorb everything. Second issue is that it is very dense in material. This makes synthesizing things a challenge at times as we are left to figure them out on your own. I suspect many more lay or casual athletes will give up due to this. I could only read a chapter, or so, at a time. Pictures are okay but a tie to all the videos on his site...

Life Changing - In More Ways Than One
I am a runner so my eating has been centered around carbs. As a result, I love carbs. I have run several 1/2 marathons but wanted to do at least one full marathon - so at 43, I trained and completed my first full marathon in April. I did not do nearly as well as I had hoped and I noticed towards the end of my training I was experiencing what I would consider an extra amount of fatigue - I also lost no weight whatsoever during my training, something I always do. I chalked it up to too much training and figured after my marathon I would rest and get back to normal. A week after my marathon, I decided to hit the gym and start weight training but had no drive and just felt tired. This feeling just got worse - to the point I thought I needed to see the Dr.
Then my wife started talking about this book. My first reaction - "THERE IS NO WAY I AM GIVING UP GRAINS AND SUGAR! - A PERSON CAN'T LIVE LIKE THAT!"
Another week or so went by AND i WAS NO BETTER. I decided to...
Excellent with a few flaws
I finished the whole30 diet as prescribed in this book yesterday, and waited until now to review the book so that I could reflect on the process of implementing the eating plan in it. I had good results from my 30 grain-free, dairy-free, sugar- and sugar-substitute-free, bean-free days. I lost 11 pounds, don't feel as achy as I did before, have clearer skin, greater mental clarity throughout the day, and to some extent more energy (though not the boundless energy that others report). I also don't crave sweets as much and don't tend to get hungry between meals. I'd struggled to lose weight on other diets without much success, so I'm very pleased with how well whole30 worked for me.

But the process of getting through the plan is a challenge. It requires a willingness to cook most (if not all) of your own meals, change countless habits, say NO to yourself quite often, and work through a stretch of days when you're probably going to feel pretty crappy. The book makes it clear...
First Time Have Stuck with a Diet!
So basically this is the Paleo diet in a simplified, easy to follow format. I read it and thought this is easy, as I've tried a Paleo lifestyle in the past and cutting out food groups such as grains, sugar and dairy is not all that hard if you are a meat eater and like vegetables which I do. But then I came to two rules I did not think I could or would follow. Somehow I talked myself into it and for the first time in my life (after dozens and dozens of dieting attempts) I have followed a diet which does not feel like a diet at all. You feel like you are just taking really good care of yourself and treating yourself to high quality, high nutrient, delicious food. The first rule I thought would be hard to follow is no alcohol. I stuck with it but one night had a glass of wine. Guess what? I ate everything in sight. No more wine. Second rule which I thought would be impossible to follow is no weighing yourself. This terrified me. What if it wasn't working... how would I know? In the past...
